Q: Who Is Eligible for Meals-On-Wheels?
A: Factors considered are generally; Age, (normally 55yrs and over), Care Recipients who are physically, mentally or emotionally disabled, Pregnant mothers on bed rest, Care Recipients recovering from surgery, injury or illness. Clients must reside within the Meals-on-Wheels jurisdiction or service areas.

Q: What Does It Cost?
A: Costs vary, are dependent on service area and your meal preference, which might be for a hot or frozen meal. Bagged lunches are sometimes available.
TenderHelpers HomeCare Ltd., does not charge a fee to help our Clients find a Meals-on-Wheels service provider.

Q: What Subsidies Are Available?
A: Depending on your service area, partial subsidies may be available to low income families. Proof of annual income will be required to qualify for the reduced rate.

Q: When Are The Meals Delivered?
A: Delivery days are Monday to Friday, but will vary from one jurisdiction to the next. Meals for the weekend can be ordered in advance and delivered during the week.

Q: Who Delivers The Meals?
A: Meals are delivered by volunteers in their own cars. Volunteers follow a delivery schedule, which will vary depending on your jurisdiction or service area.

A: Meals are prepared by different Caterers and really depends on where the Care Recipient resides.

Q: Can Special Diets Be Accommodated?
A: Yes, meals can be tailored for diabetics, for individuals requiring low salt intake or minced meals.

Q: What Does A Meal Include?
A: Menus may follow a 4-week rotation to include:- meat, fish and chicken, potatoe, rice or pasta for hot meals, along with vegetables and dessert. Bagged lunches comprising (sandwiches and fruit) are sometimes provided.
Menu choices vary depending on the service provider in your area.

A: There are many service areas. TenderHelpers HomeCare Ltd. assists Clients with the application process in the following areas:- Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Vancouver, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.

Q: Can I Sign Up With A Service Provider For A Short Time?
A: Most service providers require at least one (1) month service delivery.

Q: How Do I Get Started Receiving Meals?
A: If you are currently a TenderHelpers HomeCare Ltd. Client and Care Recipient, we will help you find a Meals-on-Wheels Co-ordinator in your service area. We will complete and submit your Application Request Form, follow up to ascertain acceptance and/or start date into a program in your area and notify you or the Care Recipient of your Application status.
If you are not currently a TenderHelpers HomeCare Client, an administration fee will be charged for our service.

Q: Meal Cancellation - How Is This Done?
A: Office opening hours and cancellation policy varies for each service provider, but cancellation should be advised by you well in advance of your scheduled meal delivery. Generally, deliveries scheduled for Monday should be canceled by you on Friday before 10.00am (PST) or earlier.
TenderHelpers HomeCare Ltd. will cancel your meal request, provided you have submitted your request to us in writing 48 hours prior to your meal delivery date.
Our cancellation service is only available to Clients who have purchased our assistance with their initial application.
Monday meal cancellations must be advised to us in writing on the previous Wednesday before 10.00am (PST) or earlier.
